Falls are preventable - and confidence is key. Stepping On is a proven, 7-week workshop that empowers older adults to take control of their health and reduce their risk of falling. Through expert guidance, peer support, and practical strategies, participants learn how to improve balance, strength and safety at home and in the community.
Whether you have had a fall or just want to stay active and independent, Stepping On gives you the tools to keep moving confidently.

Who can join the program?
Stepping On is ideal for older adults who:
- Are 70 years or older
- Live in the community or an independent living unit (not in residential care)
- Are able to walk independently (with or without a walking stick)
- Have experienced a fall in the last 12 months or feel concerned about falling
- Have no cognitive impairment (Dementia/Alzheimer's Disease, Intellectual Disability, Acquired Brain Injury)
- Have no progressive neurological condition (Parkinson's Disease, Multiple Sclerosis)
- No behavioural concerns
- No medical condition that limits your ability to participate in the group (Epilepsy)

Leader and expert speakers
The program is led by an Occupational Therapist trained as a Stepping On facilitator. Throughout the series, guest experts are invited to speak and provide hands-on demonstrations, including:
- Physiotherapists: Teach balance and strength exercises
- Occupational Therapists: Offer tips on home safety and adaptive equipment
- Pharmacists: Review medications that may increase fall risk
- Vision Experts: Discuss how vision changes affect safety
- Community Safety Officers: Offer advice on navigating public spaces safely
